Before the attempted kidnapping, however, the would-be pornographers tried to buy their way into Bishr’s pants.
“Bishr's son, Mahmoud Bishr, said his father had met with a group of unidentified people and was offered $333,000 to impersonate the late dictator in a pornographic move, which Bishr declined,” reported UPI. “The son said his father then received several phone calls in which he was threatened with kidnapping if he didn't portray the dead Iraqi strongman in the sex tape.”
They weren’t whisling Dixie. Some time after the original offer, Bishr “said he was going to a cafe in Alexandria, Egypt, when three men dressed in black tried to force him into a van," reported AhramOnline.com.
"The three men, who had guns hanging from their belts, forced me out of my car and shoved me into a van, hitting my head," said the hirsute and devout Muslim look-alike.
“The incident was short but traumatic,” AhramOnline.com continued. “Bishr said the last thing he remembers was the men yelling at each other, and then throwing him out of the van where he hit his face on the pavement.”
The photo of Bishr in his hospital bed reveals a man who could indeed be the Iraqi strongman, who was found hiding in a small underground bunker by American forces following his overthrow and hanged after being tried in an Iraqi court.
Bishr’s sons say this is not the first time their father has had to deal with the similarity. “They said other Iraqis in Egypt had previously assaulted their father, telling him, “you are Saddam Hussein and we will turn you in for the million-dollar reward.’”
Nothing a little Grecian Formula or a new Schick Quattro wouldn’t fix.
