Sex toys are one of the most lucrative product categories in the adult industry. For a long time, novelties were considered the almost-exclusive purview of women. In recent years, though, many manufacturers and retailers have discovered a thriving market in men, both gay and straight.

As an online marketer, adding sex toys for men to your product mix can add a hefty chunk of change to your bottom line.

Earlier this year, Men’s Health magazine published an article about the top male toys. Since then, a number of other magazines and websites have followed suit: SexInfo101.com, DickzToyz.com and AskMen.com are only three. Combined with the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon, the media assault had everyday men who previously wouldn’t have considered enhancing their erotic play with “one of those things” doing a double-take. Suddenly, novelties designed specifically for them sounded like fun, and men began spending their hard-earned cash on sex toys for themselves instead of their girlfriends, or even replacing their girlfriends with toys.

Women always have known novelties are a great way to lend spice to a relationship. Now that men have discovered them as well, e-tailers have noticed a spike in impulse buys at checkout: Men are adding a toy to their shopping carts along with the condoms, lube and blue movies.

Here are the toys that cracked the Top 10 lists on our favorite sex-advice sites.

Masturbation sleeves

Fleshlight leads the pack among male toys. And why wouldn’t it be? The company manufactures masturbation sleeves molded from the actual lady parts of popular porn stars like Jenna Haze, Tera Patrick and Jesse Jane. The price tag on a Fleshlight runs about $80, but that doesn’t seem to be holding anyone back.

Fun Factory’s Cobre Libre also is popular. The product is unique in that it stimulates the head of the penis and allows a guy to climax with no thrusting or stroking — just lie back and enjoy.

Though a popular actor with five movies to his credit in 2011, a couple of roles in TV series this year, and three films currently in post-production, Stahl has apparently not had a happy personal life. Once again, he got rehab for a few days, and though not living with his family, is reportedly attending AA meetings.

Trojan will Give Away Free Vibrators at CES Show

The Last Philly Porn Theater Closes

The Forum Theater, Philadelphia's last X-rated movie theater, closed Nov. 30. The theater's owner, Richard Basciano, who also owns about a dozen properties within a couple blocks of the theater, plans to develop new apartment buildings and retail space in the area.  Basciano, now 87 years old, was known as the king of Times Square porn and still owns the famous Show World in Times Square. 

The Forum Theater, located in Philadelphia's City Center neighborhood, about five blocks west of City Hall on Market Street, attempted to stay in business as people increasingly watched porn at home on DVD or the internet. In 2010 the owners tried to transform the theater into a full-service sex club but after initially winning approval from the city, the court overturned the zoning variance it needed to operate. 

The Forum was once located on a seedy strip in the neighborhood, but now the surrounding area has become more upscale. While it's been slow going for Basciano who's attempting to buy up surrounding property, it's likely the Forum Theater will give way to a parking lot.

More Americans are open to One Night Stand finds Study

More than 50 percent of Americans surveyed in a new Adam & Eve study said they have had a one night stand. The surprising results were tallied from 1,000 respondents and showed that 58.1 percent admitted to a “no-strings-attached sexual encounter.”

Of these positive respondents, 79 percent were male and 21 percent were female.Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert, said the results are higher than expected, though not alarming.

“There are many reasons people choose to have a one night stand,” Dr. Kat said. “From exploring one’s sexuality to a random hook-up outside a relationship… as long as both partners have the same expectations, a one night stand can be a positive release of sexual energy. Of course, safety is always a top priority.”

The web-based survey was conducted by an independent third party survey company of more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, and was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.

James Franco Screens ' Interior. Leather Bar ' at Sundace

“Interior. Leather Bar,” a gay short produced by James Franco and based on lost footage from William Friedkin's "Cruising," will screen as part of the New Frontier showcase at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

The film, produced by Franco through his production company Rabbit Bandini, is directed by Travis Mathews and features scenes of real, non-simulated gay sex.

Friedkin's "Cruising" is set in 1980's New York and follows an emotionally unstable cop (Al Pacino) as he infiltrates the city's gay BDSM underground to search for a serial killer targeting homosexual men.

The film received an X-rating from the MPAA for its graphic content and Friedkin was forced to cut 40-minutes from the film to score an R-rating. The edited footage was later lost by Warner Bros.

Mathews, a gay documentarian who made his feature film debut this year with "I Want Your Love," a relationship drama produced by gay adult VOD provider NakedSword, sold Franco on the idea of recreating Friedkin's lost footage.

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival takes place Jan. 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance.

Flavaworks Gets Another 1.5 Million Award

The judgment, along with two other judgments against Kywan Fisher and Cormelian Brown earlier this month, is the largest yet in a BitTorrent copyright infringement case.

Flava Works, which operates a string of gay adult websites featuring Black and Latino models, decided to sue 13 website members for allegedly posting its videos on file sharing websites and networks. The alleged infringers were identified by Flava Works’ proprietary digital fingerprinting technology.

Anwar Ogiste was originally a defendant in a case filed in 2011 against a total 13 defendants; however, the case was severed into separate ones after one of the defendants (Andrew Clavio) asked a judge to break them apart. Only five defendants remain, Frank Rossi, Lloyd Johnson, Gregory Nance, Latavius Robinson and Andrew Clavio.

“We take piracy and theft very seriously and we intend to pursue any one who illegally distributes our content,” said CEO Phillip Bleicher.

Flava Works also has filed a lawsuit against a former website customer Nathan Rowader of San Francisco, who was caught posted the comnapy's videos on BitTorrent sites.
